PARKED VEHICLE LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police investigated a parked car.

On May 23, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a parked vehicle, still running in a parking lot at a business on Front Street, West Nipissing.

The driver was found sleeping behind the wheel and was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, a male, 24 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with, failure to comply with undertaking, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
