West Nipissing Enacts Short-Term Rental By-Law Amid Opposition

In a contentious decision, West Nipissing Council has approved a by-law regulating short-term rentals, narrowly passing despite opposition and a petition with 850 signatures urging delay for further public input. Roch Pellerin, the petition’s leader and a rental operator, vows to keep advocating for changes. Although the council argued sufficient public consultation had been done, Pellerin and supporters seek more extensive community engagement. With the by-law now in effect, Pellerin aims to work on revisions, emphasizing the need for broader consultation and expressing disappointment in the council’s decision.
