West Nipissing Students Smash Food Drive Records, Spreading Thanksgiving Joy

On October 4, West Nipissing communities united for the “Une canne, ça dépanne!” food drive, a heartwarming Thanksgiving initiative for the West Nipissing Food Bank. École secondaire catholique Franco-Cité proudly set a new record, collecting 21,500 pounds of non-perishable food items and $2,500 in donations. Their success was made possible with support from local schools and the community.

Mr. René Dubuc, the school’s principal, emphasized the importance of teaching students about neighborly care and civic responsibility. He said, “Giving back fosters happiness and a sense of gratitude.”

Other Franco-Nord French-language Catholic schools also organized food drives for local food banks, spreading kindness. Additionally, students from École élémentaire catholique Saint-Vincent brightened the community’s day with handmade greeting cards, spreading joy.
