A DISPUTE RESULTED IN TWO PEOPLE BEING CHARGED

(SUDBURY, ON) – Police charged two people after responding to a domestic dispute on the highway.

On August 21, 2023, shortly after 12:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was then transported to the Sudbury OPP detachment for further testing.

The passenger had damaged the tires of the vehicle with an edged weapon.

As a result of the investigation, two people had been arrested:

The driver, a 24-year-old-person, from Sudbury, was charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The passenger, a 24-year-old-person from Sudbury, was charged with, mischief under $5,000.

Both accused were release and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the month of September 2023, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the names of both accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
