The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is granting $567,500 to two community enhancement projects in West Nipissing, as announced by the Ontario government. This funding will improve access to recreational and community activities and enhance the quality of life for Northern Ontario residents.
The renovation of an outdoor rink, including the construction of a new concrete base, replacement of boards, installation of new lights and a roof, will receive $500,000. The Centre Communautaire de Lavigne will receive $67,500 to replace the septic holding tank in the community event hall.
The projects aim to create multi-use recreational facilities that can be utilized year-round and foster healthy and connected Northern communities. The NOHFC’s financial assistance supports the growth, job creation, and skills development of projects that stimulate economic prosperity in Northern Ontario. The NOHFC has invested over $608 million in 5,070 projects in Northern Ontario since June 2018, leveraging over $1.93 billion in investment and creating or sustaining more than 8,100 jobs.
