TWO PEOPLE FROM NORTH YORK ARE CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – On September 12, 2022, members from the Community Street Crime (CSC) and the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), executed a Controlled Drug Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Front Street, West Nipissing (Sturgeon Falls).

A search of the residences led to the seizure of Canadian currency, cellular devices and drugs suspected to be fentanyl. The value of the drugs seized is believed to be approximately $12,750.

As a result of the investigation,

Julie LEBEAU, 31-years-of-age from North York was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused was release on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 6, 2022, in West Nipissing.

Patrick NELSON, 27-years-of-age from North York was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

The accused was release on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 6, 2022, in West Nipissing.
