Kris Rivard has entered the race to represent Ward 1 on the West Nipissing Council

PRESS RELEASE
Kris believes in a practical, honest, and realistic way to do politics. He has created a platform which is based on three major pillars.

Responsibility, Community and Sustainability.

“I believe Council members need to be responsible to the constituents by ensuring that tax dollars are well spent, investing wisely in our roads and infrastructure while processes remain accountable and transparent. Also, Council needs to ensure that public consultation is accessible to all”.

Kris is a thirty-year-old, sewage system inspector with the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, who was born and raised in Sturgeon Falls. A graduate from Laurentian University and Canadore College, he is now married to his wife, Janique (Gagnon) and is working to build a future in West Nipissing.

“We need to understand the challenges we face and recognize the unique opportunities we have in West Nipissing. We need to continue to build our great community spirit by supporting and promoting our community groups and local businesses and by embracing our natural heritage and history.”

He wants to ensure that Council is productive and works for the constituents not only in their respective wards, but for the betterment of the Municipality as a whole. He believes that elected officials should put the community and its residents first by creating a sustainable Municipality with access to provincial and federal funding.

“Moving forward, our municipality has to ensure it grows in a sustainable fashion by promoting sustainable economic development and ensuring our community remains attractive to young individuals and professionals while taking care of our ageing population.”

Kris is looking forward to hearing people’s concerns, thoughts, and ideas; not only from Ward 1 residents, but from everyone in the Municipality.
