DRIVER FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES
(NIPISSING FIRST NATION, ON) – On Monday, November 8, 2021, officers with Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment observed a vehicle on Highway 64 south, travelling at high rates of speed.
The vehicle failed to stop for police continuing to drive in an erratic manner and proceeded onto Highway 17eastbound. As a result of the driver’s behaviour and for public safety, OPP officers with the assistance of Anishinabek Police Service stopped both eastbound and westbound traffic.
As officers were setting up spike belts near Little Sturgeon River Road on Highway 17, the driver pulled over on the shoulder. The driver then attempted to leave the scene causing the vehicle to collide with a police cruiser.
Elison FRYER, 32 years old, of Noelville was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous Operation as per s. 320.13 (1) of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Flight from peace officer as per s. 320.17 of the CC;
- Resist peace officer as per s.129 (a) of the CC;
- Race motor vehicle as per s.172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 6, 2022 in Sturgeon Falls.
Highway 17 was closed for approximately two hours while officers completed their investigation.
