NIPISSING WEST OPP LAYS CHARGES AS A RESULT OF ROBBERY

(STURGEON FALLS, ON) – Four people have been charged in the robbery on July 15, 2021, when members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Forensics Identification Services Unit (FIS), responded to a call of an assault with a weapon in the area of Fort Road and Lalande Road in West Nipissing (Sturgeon Falls).

As a result of the investigation:

Randy ROGERS, a 32-year-old resident of Sudbury, is charged with:

· Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

· Robbery using firearm, contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the CC

· Possession break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC

· Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC

· Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a), of the CC

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody, with a re-scheduled appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 28, 2021, in the City of North Bay.

Nicholas MARTIN, a 32-year-old resident of Hamilton, is charged with:

· Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC

· Robbery using firearm, contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the CC

· Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a), of the CC

· Possession break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC

· Uttering threats – cause death of bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC

· Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC

· Failure to comply with prohibition order, contrary to section 162.2(4) of the CC

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody, with a re-scheduled appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 4, 2021, in the City of North Bay.

Mackenzie DOYLE, an 18-year-old resident of Sudbury, is charged with:

· Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC

· Robbery using firearm, contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the CC

· Possession break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC

· Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a), of the CC

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody, with a re-scheduled appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 27, 2021, in the City of North Bay.

Jordyn CAYER, a 26-year-old resident of Sudbury, is charged with:

· Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC

· Robbery using firearm, contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the CC

· Possession break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC

· Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a), of the CC

· Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC

· Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody, with a re-scheduled appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 29, 2021, in the City of North Bay.
