(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – On April 16, 2020 at 10:55 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region (NER) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation on William Street in the Municipality of West Nipissing.
Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crystal Methamphetamine and a quantity of Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs is approximately $46,000.
As a result of the investigation, Patrick ROY, age 32, from West Nipissing, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, (three counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA;
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
- Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other than to Attend Court – contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC.
The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Bail Court (video conferencing) on April 23, 2020, in North Bay
