HARASSMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA RESULTS IN CHARGES FOR WEST NIPISSING RESIDENT

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – On February 25, 2020, members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint from a resident in the Municipality of West Nipissing in regards to being harassed on social media.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested on April 15, 2020 in West Nipissing.

Jean AUBERTIN, age 49, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

• Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate, contrary to section 264(2)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
• Uttering Threats – Cause Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused was released by way of an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 23, 2020 in North Bay.
