Over $22,000 Of Opioids Seized – Charges Filed

On the evening of March 30, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region (NER) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of officers from North Bay Police Service, executed a warrant at a residence on Percy Street in North Bay.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Hydromorphone and Oxycodone, along with a large amount of Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs is approximately $22,300.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged with multiple offences.

Daniel BEAUPARLANT, age 39, from North Bay, is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA;
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs (2 counts), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and with
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).
The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Bail Court (video conferencing) on April 2, 2020 in North Bay.

Paul LACROIX, age 36, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA; and
Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC
The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Bail Court (video conferencing) on April 9, 2020, in North Bay.

During the police interaction, one of the accused sustained an injury.
