Officers Respond to Alarm at Dollar Bazaar and Arrest Suspect!

OFFICERS RESPOND TO ALARM AND ARREST CULPRIT

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – On February 26, 2020, members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at a business located on Queen Street in Sturgeon Falls.

Upon arrival, officers discovered someone had forced their way into and gained entry into the lower unit of the building, known as Dollar Bazaar.

Officers subsequently located the culprit hiding in the basement area. The accused was arrested and the stolen money was recovered.

Officers also seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl (Purple H).

As a result of the investigation, Janick DENOMME, age 30, from Sturgeon Falls was charged with:

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000-in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Break, Enter a Place-Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC;
Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC; and
Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The accused was released by way of an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 2, 2020 in Sturgeon Falls.
