On March 5, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region (NER) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Nipissing West Detachment were on patrol in Sturgeon Falls when they observed a person of interest that was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The individual was subsequently arrested on Railway Street in Sturgeon Falls.
Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl and Methamphetamine along with a sum of Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, Sean COLLINS, age 28, from Sturgeon Falls was charged with:
Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); and
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing on March 12, 2020 in North Bay.
