(STURGEON FALLS, ON) – On February 2, 2020, at approximately 1:46 a.m., a member of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a known suspended driver operating a motor vehicle on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario.
A traffic stop was performed and the driver was placed under arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of suspected methamphetamine (crystal and pills), cocaine, and purple heroin.
As a result of the investigation, Claude PHILLIPPE, 43 years of age, from Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, was charged with the following:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC,
Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The passenger, Sarah DEMERS, 29 years of age, from Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, was charged with the following:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Traffick in Schedule I substance – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA,
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to section 355(b) of the CC.
Both accused parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
