Two Youths Charged in Robbery.

(STURGEON FALLS, ON) – On November 7, 2019 at 3:55 p.m., members of the West Nipissing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault which occurred earlier, at 3:15 p.m., on Nipissing Street in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario.

Investigation revealed the 15-year-old male victim had made arrangements, on social media, to purchase a Play Station 4 (PS4) from a male party known to him.

Upon attending the pre-determined location, the victim was subsequently attacked by two males wearing a disguise. A struggle ensued where the victim was struck in the forehead with a weapon and robbed of his money and cell phone. The suspects immediately fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was able to identify both suspects.

The West Nipissing OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) assisted with the investigation.

On the morning of November 8, 2019, officers arrested a 15-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both from Sturgeon Falls. They are both charged with:

Robbery with Violence, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC;
Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC; and
Uttering Threats-Cause Death, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.

The identity of the young persons charged in this investigation is protected under authority of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and as such will not be released.

The two accused youths remain in custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Bail Court on November 12, 2019 in North Bay.
