WEST NIPISSING OPP CHARGE MALE IN THEFT INVESTIGATION

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – On July 9, 2019, members of the West Nipissing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen safe containing approximately $90,000 from a residence on Burnt Lake Road, Sturgeon Falls, Ontario.

On August 21, 2019, as a result of an on-going investigation, officers from the West Nipissing OPP Detachment, with the assistance of the West Nipissing OPP Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Sturgeon Falls and subsequently arrested the suspect.

Patrick LAVERGNE, age 46, from Sturgeon Falls has been charged with:

Theft Over $5000, contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sturgeon Falls on October 3, 2019.
