On April 14, 2019, The West Nipissing Police Service were notified that a stolen vehicle out of Sudbury was travelling E/B on Highway 17, from the Warren area. The vehicle was described as a Silver Hyundai with two male occupants. Members of the West Nipissing Police Service located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop but the suspect fled. The suspect struck a vehicle on Holditch Street and abandoned the vehicle on Levesque Street and fled on foot. Members of the OPP K9 unit and ERT were contacted and assisted in the search for both males. Later in the day WNPS was contacted about a suspicious male in Cache Bay, police arrested a man and linked him to the events from earlier that day.
Officers later located one of the male suspects.
Mr. Richard Rouleau was arrested for
–Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
–Obstruct Peace Officer
–Flight from Peace Officer
–Failure to stop after accident
–Theft under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle
–Fail to comply with Probation Order.
Mr. Rouleau was kept in custody pending a bail hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
On April 14, 2019, the West Nipissing Police Service were called to the area of King And Fourth St. in regards to a theft of a Public Works pick-up truck. While conducting the investigation an off duty officer observed a public work truck matching the description travelling W/B on Front St. in Sturgeon Falls at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was later located by members of the OPP in the Warren area. The adult male is facing a number of charges including theft of a motor vehicle from West Nipissing.
On April 14, 2019 The West Nipissing Police Service responded to an alarm on Salter St. Officers arrived on scene and determined that someone had broken a window and had gained entry to the property. Once inside officers found that culprit(s) had stolen an undisclosed amount of old Canadian currency and silver coins. The investigation is ongoing.
On April 15, 2019, Members of the West Nipissing Police Service were called to attend at 100 Michaud St. Domaine Leclair in regards to a Break and Enter Complaint. The complainant stated that he was sleeping and was awoken and observed the suspect in his residence. The suspect would have stolen a blue bag containing $5 and the complainant’s health card. The items in question were on the complainant’s wheelchair. The suspect fled the scene and the police were contacted. The culprit entered the apartment by prying open a door window. The suspect is described as being 6 feet tall thin build wearing dark colored clothing and a hooded jacket. The investigation is ongoing.
On April 15, 2019, at approximately 21:41pm West Nipissing Police Officers were called to a convenience store in regard to a robbery. A lone male entered the store brandishing a knife while wearing a disguise and demanded all the money. The male was described as being 5’10”-5’11”, thin build and was wearing dark clothing. The male suspect left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The investigation is ongoing.
