During the early hours of March 27th, 2019, the West Nipissing Police was contacted regarding a possible overdose in the Nipissing Street area. As police responded, a second call about a theft of a bicycle was received from a Pembroke Street residence. Police eventually learned that a female had made the false medical call in order to distract police. The female had been in an argument and made threats towards a male. She then left the residence, taking the bicycle with her. The female was located and arrested. Jennifer Engson (37yrs) of Sturgeon Falls is charged with Theft Under $5,000, Uttering Threats, Resist Arrest, and Common Nuisance.
On March 27th, 2019, police received two separate calls of shoplifting from the LCBO store in Sturgeon Falls. In each occurrence, a female stole a bottle of alcohol from the store. Police have identified the two suspects in the thefts and charges are pending.
On March 28th, 2019, a resident from the Railway Street area contacted to police to report a theft from his vehicle overnight. A phone charger was stolen from his vehicle by unknown persons. Police wish to remind the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles and ensure the vehicles are secure when left unattended.
During the evening of March 28th, 2019, police responded to a theft complaint from the A&W restaurant on Front Street. A male and female attended the restaurant and stole a donation box containing money. The couple left before police arrived. One of the suspects has been identified and police are investigating.
