Man Flees from Police on Snowmobile

During the early hours of March 4th, 2019, West Nipissing Police responded to a mischief complaint at the Quality Auto store on Front Street. It was found that someone had thrown a jar of condiments through a window, breaking the glass. Police are investigating.

West Nipissing Police are investigating two thefts that have occurred at the West Nipissing General Hospital and were reported on March 4th and March 5th, 2019. Stolen items include a purse and an iPad tablet.

On March 5th, 2019, police observed a male on a snowmobile without a helmet travelling on Railway Street in Sturgeon Falls. When police attempted to speak to the driver, he refused to stop. The driver took off at high speeds, driving in an unsafe manner and hitting another vehicle causing damages. Police were able to corner the suspect after he abandoned the snowmobile and he was taken into custody. Jean Dube (31yrs) of Sturgeon Falls, is charged with Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, Driving While Suspended, along with several other provincial infractions. Police also recovered some electronics which they believe might be stolen.
