Thieves break in through window

On January 27 police responded to a complaint of a break and enter at a Malette Road residence in Sturgeon Falls. The victim advised police that he attended the residence to find that a window was removed and the house had been ransacked. It appears that the suspect(s) entered via the window and once inside searched for items of value. The culprits made off with money and GPS. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 08:00am January 28, police responded to Eglise Sacre Coeur in Sturgeon Falls regarding a possible break and enter in progress. The custodian alerted police and indicated that when he arrived for work he discovered the glass on the front doors broken, and the lock damaged. Officers secured the premises and did not locate anyone within. Officers investigating the incident observed signs that someone had entered but at this time it is uncertain if anything was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

On January 29, West Nipissing Police officers are asked to do a well-being check on an individual. Officers attended the Demers street area and learned that the man had left the area. The man is known to police and they were aware that he was also wanted. The man was located hiding in the snow in a back yard in the vicinity. The man was arrested and taken into custody. During the arrest police located powdered substances believed to be controlled substance, the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Police are investigating a stabbing after learning a man suffering injuries to the back was taken to hospital by a friend. The incident is believed to have occurred inside a residence on John Street, however, the exact location is unknown at this time. The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, and he has left the hospital’s care. The victim is reluctant to provide detail and police are actively seeking witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
