On December 4, 2018, the Council Members of the Municipality of West Nipissing were inaugurated to serve the community during the 2018-2022 term.
The inaugural meeting, held at the West Nipissing Council Chambers, was well attended by friends and family of the elected officials, as well as numerous community partners and media representatives. The mayor and eight ward representatives were sworn in by the Honourable Mr. Justice Pierre Bradley of the Ontario Court of Justice. A reception with the public followed the Mayor’s address to the residents.
Her Worship, Mayor Joanne Savage, expressed that she feels optimistic about her upcoming term and is looking forward to working with a Council that is comprehensive and diversified. “Our team includes returning members as well as individuals who are new to municipal government. Collectively, we have a wealth of experience, abilities and knowledge. I believe in everyone’s capacity to contribute significantly as part of a dynamic and energetic group. Together we have the potential to cultivate new perspectives and to influence our community’s progress. We will continue to focus on transparency and collaboration.”
The next Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Council meetings are open to the public and available for viewing on the local Eastlink channel or online using Livestream.
