Man arrested for careless use and careless storage of a firearm.

On July 28th the West Nipissing Police Service was dispatched to attend Avenue du Lac in Lavigne regarding a man shooting a firearm. Upon arrival the officers observed the man with a firearm in his possession. The man appeared out of sorts while pacing in the driveway. The man then got into a vehicle at which time police prevented his access to the roadway. The man was directed to exit his vehicle which he did. He was taken into custody without incident. Thirty two (32) year old Luc Richer of Lavigne now faces charges of careless use and careless storage of a firearm.

The West Nipissing Police Service responded to a complaint of a man threatening to stab another man along John Street in Sturgeon Falls. The victim fled the attacker, tried to take refuge at a neighbor’s however kept running away from the suspect. Police located the two men several blocks away at which time one man was taken into custody and now faces charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and carrying a concealed weapon. The 29 year old Kyle Kwiatkowski of Sturgeon Falls is scheduled to appear in court September 9th.

On July 30th police received a 911 call regarding an assault. Police investigated the complaint and later learned that a female had assaulted a man while he was at work. The woman left the scene prior to police attending. Police had occasion to attend at the woman’s home later that day, when she was advised that she was being charged for assault the woman became argumentative and even assaultive. The woman, punched, kicked, scratched and bit the police officer that was trying to arrest her. The officer gained control of the woman and took her into custody. The 20 year old female now faces charges of assault and assault police.

While on foot patrol during the early morning hours of July 30th an officer with the West Nipissing Police Service observed an individual going into unlocked vehicles in the Nipissing Street area and fleeing from the scene. The officer approached the man along Queen Street, and found that he trying to hide stolen items. The man was arrested and taken into custody. Twenty eight (28) year old Daniel Tanguay of Sturgeon Falls faces charges of theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, trespass at night and failing to comply with conditions of his undertaking.
