On July 14th 2018 the West Nipissing Police Service executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant at a Church Street residence in Sturgeon Falls. The dwelling was searched by police at which time assorted drugs were located. Police have seized Crystal Meth, Methamphetamine pills (Speed), marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. Thirty nine (39) year old Chad Danis and Twenty (20) year old Justine Beaulieu both face charges of
Possession of Controlled Substances for the purpose of trafficking.
The West Nipissing Police Service is investigating a complaint of mischief. A local resident attended the police office to report that damage had been caused to a municipal bench. Police confirmed the damage and remind residents that the destruction of property is a criminal offence, this investigation is ongoing.
Police are investigating the theft of a utility trailer. A Balsam Court resident reported that he had left the trailer parked at the Legion Hall in Sturgeon Falls overnight on July 15th and when he returned to pick it up on the morning of the 16th the trailer was gone.
A vigilant Bourgault Street resident alerted police of a suspicious person lurking around vehicles on July 16th and the information led to a Sturgeon Falls man being arrested. Police obtained the information and located the man a short time after. Twenty five (25) year old Joseph Commanda now faces charges of trespass at night and possession of property obtained by crime.
