West Nipissing Police Service weekly update (May 31 – June 5)

On May 31st 2017, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, the West Nipissing Police Service executed a controlled drugs and substance act search warrant at a Quesnel Road residence in Sturgeon Falls. During the search police located and seized a large amount of cash, a substantial amount of methamphetamine pills along with marijuana and other drugs. Three men and one woman face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in Schedule I, Schedule II and Schedule III controlled substances.

On June 2nd 2017, the West Nipissing Police Service received a complaint of an assault. The female victim contacted the police to report that her boyfriend had struck her. Police investigated the complaint and learned that he transient couple were travelling through the area and that on one occasion the man threw the female to the ground and on another struck her in the facial area. The 31 year old man was arrested, taken into custody, and he now faces charges of assault, and failing to comply with his recognizance.

On June 3rd 2017, the West Nipissing Police Service responded to an assault complaint in the Park Street area. Upon investigating the complaint police learned that a 21 year old male had struck his sister and threatened to cause her death when confronted about the way he had treated a family pet. The man was arrested, and now faces criminal charges in connection to the incident.

On June 3rd 2017, West Nipissing Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls. The two male occupants were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance. Officers seized substantial amount of cash and 150 pills of suspected oxycodone. A 37 year old Brampton man and a 51 year old Kitchener man now face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.
