An 83-year-old Sturgeon Falls man is in hospital in Sudbury as a result of a collision which occurred at the corner of Arthur Street and Queen Street in Sturgeon Falls yesterday at approximately 3:24 p.m. The injured man was operating an off-road vehicle and was travelling southbound on Arthur Street when he struck the school bus which was eastbound on Queen Street.
Emergency Services responded and, after being stabilized at West Nipissing General Hospital, he was taken by land ambulance to Health Sciences North in Sudbury. His condition is reported as stable but critical.
There were no other injuries. There were five students on the bus at the time and counselling services are being activated. The investigation is ongoing and the West Nipissing Police Service is being assisted by Collision Reconstructionist Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police.
