The CAO of West Nipissing did not act alone without council’s approval in a controversy that has gripped the community, according to West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage.
In a statement released Friday, Savage sought to correct “certain misconceptions that seem to be taking hold by some” after two employees of the municipality were terminated and legal action was begun against a local contractor.
“Both the human resources portion and the civil litigation portion were, at all times, discussed with council,” Savage said.
“Though difficult decisions had to be made, council supported the recommended course of action. Council continues to be updated on every development as new information comes forward.
