A Sturgeon Falls construction company being sued for allegedly failing to complete municipal roadwork says it plans to counter-sue the township.
Tthis month, the Municipality of West Nipissing launched a $450,000 lawsuit against company MX Constructors.
The municipality is accusing the firm of not properly completing more than half a dozen public works projects, including road and sidewalk repairs.
The town has also fired two of its top ranking Public Works officials.
The president of MX Constructors told CBC News his company has hired a lawyer in Barrie who plans to file a defence soon.
“They’re going to be vigorously defending the claim, and that all work with the municipality was authorized, reviewed, and approved by the officials at West Nipissing,” Steve Morrison said.
The firm won an award for “Outstanding Business of the Year” from the area’s chamber of commerce in 2013.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
