On Saturday March 3rd, 2012, the Northern Braves Alumni hosted their 3rd annual curling funspiel at the local Granite Club. This year’s theme, a lighthearted take on the friendly rivalry between Franco-Cité and Northern, was devised to attract more teams and to create awareness that this annual funspiel is open to everyone from West Nipissing, not just Northern Alumni.
The tactic worked well, attracting 16 teams, each consisting of 4 players. Of course, in keeping with the theme, a few teams showed up donning their respective school swag.
The tournament began at 10am, running two 6 end elimination rounds in the morning and late afternoon. Finals were played following the pizza and salad supper, winding up at 8pm. The winners of the full day event were Ron McLeod and family:
